Richmond District stories

Are you curious about San Francisco Planning Department efforts in the Richmond District AND want to see inside the Internet Archive building on Funston Avenue at Clement Street? Then, gee whiz, do we have an event for you!

Please join Western Neighborhoods Project (WNP) and the SF Planning Department on Thursday, September 19th at the Internet Archive from 5-7:15pm to hear Richmond District stories from community knowledge-bearers that were featured in the Chinese and Russian American Historic Context Statements. SF Planning staff will also review historic properties from a survey of the Richmond Neighborhood Commercial Districts, and ask participants for recommendations on other significant businesses that should be included. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own memories, photos, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera to share with us. Staff and volunteers will be available during the program to record stories and scan small items on site. This is your chance to be part of history!

This Richmond Neighborhood Workshop continues an entire year of collaborative programming between WNP and SF Planning. You’ll be able to mingle with neighbors, share your history with SF Planning and WNP staff, and ask questions about SF Survey–a multi-year program to document resources of historical, architectural, and cultural importance to San Francisco’s diverse communities. Plus, there will be complimentary refreshments, kids activities, and a tour of the building!

This event is free but RSVPs are appreciated in advance; let us know you can be with us by registering through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sf-survey-richmond-neighborhood-workshop-tickets-1002581246497?aff=ebdsoporgprofile
