One Richmond Community Market Participant Guidelines

The following guidelines were originally written by Community Market coordinators and volunteers. These guidelines may be updated periodically with input gathered from staff, volunteers, and participants.

One Richmond Community Market is proud to serve all people, and is committed to promoting a safe and positive environment. We appreciate your help in keeping the Community Market safe, fair and friendly so that it is a positive experience for everyone.

Harassment of any kind, including but not limited to verbal abuse, physical abuse, and sexual harassment, or the threat thereof, will not be tolerated.

Be respectful in your interactions with staff, volunteers, and participants. Discrimination, of any kind, will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, derogatory comments about an individual or a group of people based on race, ethnicity, color, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, immigration status, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or marital status.

To respect the personal space of others, please keep your bodies and belongings to yourself.

To be respectful of the neighbors, please do not litter, loiter or trespass. For example, sitting on a neighbor's steps or lawns.

To be fair to all participants, please do not save spaces in line.

For the health and safety of others, please do not smoke on or near the property.

Every participant, including eligible volunteers, may receive the same amount of food as everyone else. Food is free and not to be bought or sold. Please be aware of and respect any additional guidelines from the organization hosting the Community Market.

Your patience and consideration of other participants and volunteers is greatly appreciated.

If you are unable to follow these guidelines, you may be asked to leave for a period of time.

Grievance Policy – If you have a grievance or concern with any of the One Richmond/The Richmond Neighborhood Center staff or volunteers, please discuss this with the coordinator of the program you are involved in. If you are unable to resolve the matter, contact Yves Xavier, Community Programs Manager yves@richmondsf.org or 415 751 6600. If you are still unsatisfied and feel the problem to be of a serious nature, please fill out a written complaint and mail it to: The Richmond Neighborhood Center, 741 30th Ave, SF, CA 94121 or email: info@richmondsf.org

Registration and Eligibility for One Richmond Community Market - open Wednesdays 1pm-4pm

Dear Richmond District neighbors,

The One Richmond Community Market is aimed at enhancing food security and fostering community connections. To ensure this initiative reaches those who can benefit most, we have specific registration and eligibility criteria in place. Once a week on Wednesdays, we will provide several items of fresh food for participants. Come in anytime between 1pm and 4pm on Wednesdays.

Registration Process:
To register for the One Richmond Community Market, please follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the One Richmond Community Market application form and deliver to 802 Clement St, SF CA 94118.

  2. Bring a valid photo ID that shows your D1 residency OR a utility bill from within the last 3 months that shows Richmond District residency.

  3. Our team can assist you in completing the registration process and answer any questions you may have.

Eligibility Conditions:

To participate in the One Richmond Community Market, individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Residency: Participants must be residents of District 1 (D1) Zip code 94118 or 94121.

2. Exclusion from other food banks: Individuals currently attending food banks operated by The Richmond Neighborhood Center, YMCA, St. John's, or SF Marin Bank Food Bank or any SFMB partners or programs such as HDG (Home Delivered Groceries) are not eligible for participation 

3. Enrolled in Cal-Fresh/EBT or MediCal program

4. One person/household per address allowed.

Shopping Experience: The One Richmond Community Market operates like a supermarket, allowing you to choose your own produce. 

Operating Hours: The market will be open between 1pm - 4pm on Wednesdays, and you can come any time during that period to do your shopping.

Supplemental nature: While our market is designed as a supplement and may not cover a full week's worth of food, we encourage all participants to take advantage of this opportunity to select the items that best suit your needs.

Eligibility Check: Staff will cross-check names against our own pantry access records and the PES Citywide system of food bank programs to ensure eligibility and fairness in distribution.

Attendance Policy: If you do not attend for six (6) weeks without notice, you will be removed from the Community Market participant list.

We will contact you if we are closed for a holiday or other reason.

Waitlist: The One Richmond Community Market is currently at capacity. You may apply and wait to be contacted about joining the program.

Introducing the One Richmond Community Market – a project that aims to bring fresh, local produce to our neighbors with food insecurity. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where neighbors can connect, access healthy food, and support local vendors.
